DECLARACIÓN DE ÉTICA DE PUBLICACIONES DEL BOLETÍN DE LA SEDECK

El Boletín de la Sociedad Española de Espeleología y Ciencias del Karst (en adelante Boletín SEDECK) tiene como objetivo general la publicación de trabajos de investigación originales y que no hayan sido publicados anteriormente por otro medio. No obstante, atendiendo a razones de oportunidad y valorando el interés general, podrá aceptar para su publicación trabajos de síntesis, previamente debatidos en jornadas científicas y que contribuyan a mejorar y potenciar la difusión científica en materias y temáticas relacionadas con la Espeleología y el estudio del Karst.

El editor-jefe, el comité científico y los revisores de trabajos presentados al Boletín SEDECK para su publicación declaran su compromiso de custodia y confidencialidad de dichos trabajos y materiales durante todo el proceso de revisión, que finalizará con la publicación o, en su caso, la devolución de los mismos a sus autores. Éstos, llegado el caso, tendrán derecho a exigir la devolución de los originales y la destrucción de las posibles copias. En definitiva, no se hará ningún uso de los textos ni de los datos que en ellos se presentan más allá de los de ser publicados.

Los responsables del Boletín SEDECK están obligados a explicar de forma motivada los criterios de aceptación o de posible rechazo de los artículos, cuando así se les exija. En todo caso se evitará cualquier trato de favor de unos en detrimento de otros autores/as, así como incurrir en conflictos de intereses en relación con los textos que se presenten.

La evaluación de los manuscritos se centrará solamente en su contenido intelectual, sin importar el origen étnico, el género u orientación sexual, creencias, nacionalidad o la filosofía política de los autores.

Por su parte, los autores deben comprometerse a aportar datos veraces, mostrar que se han recogido de forma técnicamente correcta, evitar plagios o autoplagios más allá de las síntesis divulgativas convenidos con el Editor, citar debidamente los contenidos bibliográficos y las colaboraciones externas recibidas, y aceptar las normas de publicación y de revisión del Boletín SEDECK.

Las fuentes de información utilizadas por los autores, tanto directas como indirectas, serán responsabilidad de los mismos, que deberán obtener los oportunos permisos para reproducir parcialmente materiales (textos, tablas, figuras...) de otras publicaciones, citando en todo caso su procedencia correctamente.

En el caso de ser aceptado el artículo, los autores deben comprometerse a hacer las modificaciones que durante el proceso de revisión le sean indicadas, en el plazo que se haya estipulado.

Los revisores realizarán una revisión clara y objetiva de los artículos que les sean confiados y expondrán con claridad los argumentos de su valoración. Evitarán entrar en cuestiones personalizadas y en subjetividades que, si lo estiman procedente, siempre podrán evitar mediante renuncia o argumentos recusatorios cuando estimen que pueda haber algún conflicto de intereses que limiten su objetividad (por ejemplo, ser parte interesada en la investigación que se presenta en el artículo, mantener una relación personal o de parentesco con los autores o estar en una franca situación de disputa). No obstante, en casos especiales, estas mismas circunstancias podrían llegar a argumentarse con un interés general de tipo científico, en cuyo caso pueden ser planteadas ante el Editor-jefe y con la aceptación de los autores, para que pueda tomarse una decisión debidamente motivada y razonada por la parte Editorial.

Tanto el Editor-jefe como el comité científico y los revisores velarán por simplificar los plazos de respuesta, así como dar cuenta y la debida explicación de posibles incidentes sospechosos de plagio, que serán trasladados a los autores para su debida consideración y respuesta pertinente.

A tales efectos, el Editor-jefe dispondrá de la facultad mediadora necesaria para intervenir, evitar conflictos (especialmente derivados de posibles intereses comerciales) y poder resolver, en su caso y como mejor proceda, las cuestiones planteadas durante los procesos de revisión y aceptación de originales.

ETHICS STATEMENT OF PUBLICATIONS OF THE BOLETÍN DE LA SEDECK

The Boletín de la Sociedad Española de Espeleología y Ciencias del Karst (hereafter Boletín de la SEDECK) has the general aim of the publication of original research articles that have not been published previously. However, attending to reasons of opportunity and valuing the general interest, it may accept for publication synthesis papers previously debated in scientific conferences and that contribute to improving and promoting scientific dissemination in subjects and themes related to Speleology and the study of Karst.

The editor-in-chief, Scientific Board and the reviewers of papers submitted to the Boletín de la SEDECK declare their commitment to the custody and confidentiality of said papers and materials throughout the review process, which will end with their publication or, where appropriate, their return to the authors. These, if necessary, will have the right to demand the return of the originals and the destruction of possible copies. No use will be made in any way of the texts or the data presented in them beyond those to be published.

Those responsible for the Boletín de la SEDECK are obliged to justify the criteria for acceptance or possible rejection of articles when so required. Nonetheless, any favourable treatment of some authors to the detriment of others will be avoided, as well as incurring in conflicts of interest in relation to the texts that are presented.

The evaluation of the manuscript will focus only on its intellectual content, regardless of ethnic origin, gender or sexual orientation, beliefs, nationality or political philosophy of the authors.

In turn, the authors must commit to providing truthful data, show they have been collected in a technically correct way, avoid plagiarism or self-plagiarism beyond the informative synthesis agreed with the Editor, properly cite the bibliographic contents and external collaborations received, and accept the publication and review regulations of the Boletín de la SEDECK.

The sources of information used by the authors, both direct and indirect, will be their responsibility, and they must obtain the appropriate permissions to partially reproduce materials (texts, tables, figures ...) from other publications, citing in any case their origin correctly.

In the case of the article being accepted, the authors must commit to making any modifications indicated during the review process, within the stipulated period.

The reviewers will carry out a clear and objective review of the articles entrusted to them and will clearly explain the arguments of their assessment. They must avoid entering in personal and subjective questions that, should they arise, they can always avoid by means of resignation or disqualification reasons when they consider that there may be a conflict of interest that limits their objectivity (for example, if they are an interested party in the research presented in the article, maintain a personal relationship with the authors, or are involved in a frank dispute).

However, in special cases, these same circumstances could be argued with a general scientific interest, in which case they can be brought before the Editor-in-Chief with the acceptance of the authors, so that a duly justified decision can be made and reasoned by the Editorial team.

Both the Editor-in-Chief, the Scientific Board and the reviewers will ensure that reply times are simplified, as well as report and explain possible suspected cases of plagiarism, which will be forwarded to the authors for their due consideration and pertinent response.

For this purpose, the Editor-in-Chief will have the necessary mediating power to intervene, avoid conflicts (especially derived from possible commercial interests) and be able to resolve, where appropriate and as best as possible, the issues raised during the review and acceptance processes of originals.
